D.O. Allen Homes Hosts First 5K Charity Race For The Make-A-Wish Foundation
August 29, 2007
Local builder D.O. Allen Homes will hold the inaugural Building Wishes 5K Run/Walk to raise funds and help promote the objectives of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Central and Western Virginia. This organization grants wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
The race will be held on Sunday, October 14 at Deep Run Park in Richmond, and adults and children 10 years of age and older are encouraged to participate in this worthy cause. The event will begin at 6:30 a.m. with registration and check-in at the rear near the soccer fields. The run and walk will start at 8:00 a.m., on a course that includes paved and gravel paths to single path trails that wind through the wooded park. Following the race, prizes will be given to top male and female finishers in each age group. A wide array of raffle prizes will also be awarded.
Registration for the Building Wishes 5K is $20.00, and additional donations by participants or their supporters are also welcome. Online registrations or donations are accepted at www.DOAllenHomes.com/5K. Participants will receive a commemorative T-Shirt, and refreshments and entertainment will be available to all who attend. Prospective participants may also contact D.O. Allen Homes at (804) 323-1362 x100 or email AGoobic@DOAllenGroup.com with questions.
“We are very excited to put together this race and help promote this amazing organization in our community,” said Donald Allen, Owner of D.O. Allen Homes. “Just as exciting is the level of support and commitment we have already received from our business partners, who will team with us in executing a successful event for everyone who participates.”
100% of the proceeds raised from the event will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® and help cover the costs of making wishes come true for children facing a life-threatening medical condition between the ages of 2 and a half and 18 years old. The Make-A-Wish Foundation® grants a wish every 41 minutes.
