D.O. Allen Homes held the inaugural Building Wishes 5K Run/Walk charity event on Sunday, October 14th to raise funds and help promote the objectives of the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Central and Western Virginia.  This organization grants wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.  The Make-A-Wish Foundationâ grants a wish every 41 minutes.

The cost associated with coordinating a wish varies depending on the type of wish, but on average the cost is about $6,000.  D.O. Allen Homes set a goal to raise enough funds to grant two wishes, and ended up exceeding our goal with a total over $12,000 raised.  100% of the event’s proceeds will go directly to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® and will help deserving children in our local area.  A huge thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event such a success.  We hope to see all of you again next year!
